Dominican Republic, 4/24/2015

The Dominican Republic is preparing to benefit from financial services from the Caribbean Biodiversity Fund, with the goal of developing actions involving conversations, protection, research, education, restoration and use of the environment.

The content of the terms were agreed upon at an extraordinary meeting of the Board of the National Fund for the Environment and Natural Resources (Marena Fund) held at the headquarters of the Ministry wherein it approved the financial statements of the organization and the request to present to the country the option to seek financial resources from the Caribbean Biodiversity Fund.

At the session, headed by Bautista Rojas Gómez, Minister of Environment and Natural Resources, it was agreed to submit an application to Marena Fund in order to seek international funds to contribute to the preservation of the environment and natural resources. In addition, they will ensure that the Dominican Republic chooses more economical resources from organizations that promote so-called green funds.
