Term Patch reefs

Submerged coral formations with platforms which are isolated or separated from the coast. They may develop behind or in front of a barrier reef, and are found in shallow waters within the continental shelf. In the Dominican Republic, such reefs are located in Las Terrenas, in the Samaná province.
