Term National System of Environmental Management and Natural Resources
Definition

The General Law on Environment and Natural Resources (Law 64-00) defines this system as the set of government institutions and non-governmental organizations (NGOs) responsible for implementing the policies and provisions resulting from the General Law on Environment and Natural Resources.1 

The system integrates the Ministry of Environment and Natural Resources, the institutional programming offices of the decentralized and autonomous agencies that comprise the sector, two university representatives (public and private), commissions on environment and natural resources of the National District City Council, municipal councils and the Municipal League, and the NGOs related to the sector and registered with the Ministry of Environment and Natural Resources.
