Term Regulation

A norm dictated by the executive branch of the government which is of general scope and is subject to a law that develops it and renders it operational. Regulations that develop an existing legal rule are called executive regulations. There are also independent regulations that regulate an activity that deserves legal attention but which has no legal norm. Emergency regulations are issued when rapid provisions are required as a result of an extraordinary circumstance.

Outside of the legal context, a regulation is considered an ordered collection of rules imposed by an authority, which are mandatory in nature.  Regulations govern any activity, group, association, or corporation.
