Term Natural forest regeneration
Definition

A mechanism for the re-planting of a natural forest after its destruction. Trees reproduce through pollination, seed dispersal by animals, wind or other vectors, and germination is subsequent, thus beginning a recovery process. It occurs without human intervention and allows the permanence of great species diversity, in contrast with reforestation, which is an artificial process that normally involves very few species. During regeneration, there is a process of natural selection through which the strongest species and those better adapted to the ecosystem and its conditions survive.
