Term Polluter pays principle

Concept that is based on the assumption that it is the obligation of a pollution producer to compensate individuals or the state for damage or loss caused directly to them or to the environment. In the Dominican Republic, this principle is enshrined in section 70 of the General Law on Environment and Natural Resources as obligatory in relation to those affected and society.1
