Term Remote Sensing
Definition

Technology for interpreting distant geospatial information regarding characteristics, objects and qualities of the surface of the earth, oceans and atmosphere, as well as on other bodies in the solar system, stars and galaxies. It employs radiation, particles and other related fields. Remote sensing is known in Spanish as percepción remota or teledetection.

Remote sensing is used in various fields, such as geographic information systems, which can lead to the dissemination of geographical material, such as tourism guides. It is also useful in developing a digital record of agricultural holdings, in management planning of hydrological and volcanic risks, in geological mapping, in database development and in digital cartographic virtual model creation in 3D, from satellite images and orthographic digital photos.
