Term Oxygen
Definition

A chemical element composed of two atoms (di-oxygen) and which occurs freely in the atmosphere as a colorless, odorless and tasteless gas. It is essential for the functioning of the biosphere, and necessary for respiration and oxidation/combustion.

Almost all living beings require oxygen to live. They absorb it by breathing through lungs, for instance, in the case of mammals, or through leaves, in the case of plants.
