Term Transboundary movement
Definition

Movement of a genetically modified organism (GMO) or of toxic and hazardous wastes (for example, nuclear waste) from one place (country, continent) to another. It requires commitments and agreements between countries or parties involved in order to control the adverse effects on the environment and human health, thus ensuring an adequate level of protection in the area where the transfer, handling and use of GMO's and/or harmful wastes takes place.
