Term Stalactite
Definition

A rocky formation that hangs from the ceiling or wall of a limestone cave. Stalactites are formed by water droplets filled with minerals (mainly calcium carbonate) which fall from the ceiling or wall of a cave. When a drop falls, it leaves a thin ring of dissolved minerals that increases in size with each drop. Normally it has a conical shape.
