Term Sustainable development
Definition

Term first used in 1987 in the Brundtland Report, elaborated for the UN’s World Commission on Environment and Development and defined as development that "meets the needs of the present without compromising the ability of future generations to meet their own needs.”

This concept presented, for the first time, a more comprehensive vision by placing the sustainability, respect for the quality of the environment and human welfare at the center of any economic, social or cultural policy. It is a more complex development model, which limits the economic growth of a society to nature’s ability to regenerate, while placing the improvement of the human condition (human and social development) as its fundamental goal
