Term Social development
Definition

A type of development aimed at effectively satisfying human needs and improving justice and social cohesion, as well as the respect for human dignity. Social development seeks the common welfare as an aim in and of itself, enabling equitable distribution of income and greater access to resources through equity and equality of opportunities for all, with special emphasis on the efforts that must be carried out for the most disadvantaged and vulnerable groups. It seeks the promotion of participatory mechanisms for all, strengthening democratic systems, fundamental rights and civil society, as well as providing access to information. Social development involves the participation of all sectors in decision-making.
