Term Carbon
Definition

Chemical element whose atomic number is 6 and symbol is C. It is solid at room temperature. It is the base for many molecules in living organisms and is therefore one of the fundamentals of organic chemistry. It is one of the components -along with oxygen- of carbon dioxide, one of the atmospheric gases responsible for the greenhouse effect and the resulting global warming.
