Term | Migratory birds | ||||||
Definition | Birds that move periodically from one area to another to continue their life cycle, depending on the season and the availability of nutrients. There are two groups of migratory birds: northern and southern. Northern migratory birds travel from the northern temperate zone in the northern hemisphere (e.g., Canada, USA) to the tropics and vice versa, while southern migratory birds migrate in the Southern Hemisphere, from cold areas (e.g., Chile, Argentina) to the tropics and vice versa. |
