Term Environmental Adjustment and Management Program
Definition

In the Dominican Republic, it is a document that describes the actions necessary to manage interactions between a project and the environment. In international literature the term environmental management plan or impact management plan is used. Dominican Law 64-00 indicates that environmental licenses and permits shall include the corresponding PMAA (article 44). 1

The regulation of the permit and license system is defined in the following manner: "It is the document that details the actions to be taken to improve the environmental performance of existing projects or facilities, and to ensure the management of natural resources without reducing their productivity and quality. "1

Article 46 of General Law on the Environment and Natural Resources (Law 64-00) provides that the Ministry of Environment and Natural Resources shall perform audits to make sure that the head of a project complies with the PMAA and the conditions stated in the environmental permit. In addition, it indicates that the PMAA must include an automanagement program with which the party responsible for the project must comply and submit periodically to the Ministry.1
